Sri Lanka is an agricultural country

Sri Lanka is an agricultural country. Traditional agriculture has been practiced since ancient times.  thus massive improvements have not been seen. Cultural Attributes Religions are highly influential. The main food of the people of Sri Lanka is rice.  thus most of them have their own field. As a part-time business with their main business

The whole family will go to cultivate paddy. You can still see buffaloes being used. It has to be explored as adequate. Equipment such as plow, knife, spade, etc. need to be developed.  There is no technology like to use massive scale machines, repair machines, manufacture machines. No significant progress has been made in this area However, most of the paddy is being cultivated in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa                                          and  Kurunegala districts.

The water needed for this is still derived from lakes built by the ancient kings of the day. No modern irrigation methods are used Some areas are still dependent on rainwater. These cannot be considered as a better way to adapt to global change. Over the years, large quantities of chemical fertilizers and pesticides have been used to improve agriculture.

Farmers became ill in various ways due to the side effects caused by them. It can be seen that water pollution and environmental pollution are caused by chemical fertilizers and pesticides. It can be seen that the present government is engaged in efforts to bring about some change in these. Attitudes among farmers towards this change are a major drawback of further development.
