The Sinharaja

Forests are being destroyed rapidly due to global development. Similarly, rare forests are being provided in Sri Lanka. Due to this is  massive  changes in the natural balance of the earth natural disasters have caused the world.

                  


Singarajavanam is one of the most protected forest areas in Sri Lanka. It was declared a Sri Lanka Conservation Forest in 1988 with the aim of protecting it from human destruction.  Its special section was declared a World Heritage Site in 1989 as one of the World Heritage Sites


                               

The lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka includes Ratnapura in Sabaragamuwa Province, Galle and Matara in Southern Province.  It covers an area of ​​11.8 hectares.

The Sinharaja forest is bordered by rivers on three sides, to the north to the Napola Dola and Kosgulana rivers,  to the south and southwest of the Maha Dola and the Gin River,to the west is the Kalu Kandawa Ela River and the Kudaawa River. 

                    

 If you travel from Katunayaka Bandaranayaka International airport  you have to traveadistance of about 165km or if you travel from Mattala Rajapaksa InternationalAirport  you have to travel a distance of about 110km 

You can reach the Sinharaja forest reserve via  Ratnapura  Kiriella  Thalawana , If you travel from the south of the country you can enter Sinharaja from Deniyaya as well If you are traveling from Udawalawa in Hambantota you can see the Sinharaja rain forest from Rakwan

Being a mountainous area it has a load and die floor system. Annual rainfall ranges from 2000 mm to 6000 mm  and annuals temperature  range from 270  C to 300  C.


                                    


 Biodiversity Sri Lanka has a very special place. Sri Lanka Singarajavanam is one of the most endangered species in Asia. fish, amphibians, birds, mammals, reptiles, flowering plants, and non-flowering plants are some of the species found here.insects are natural springs and herbs are found here. species found nowhere else in the world. At present, basic principles have been formulated on how to conserve the Singaraja Forest globally.
